Staff
In Haiti, three Daughters of Charity serve with dedication, patience and perseverance.
Medical Director, Bernes Chalumeau, MD, an internist, directs the hospital. The medical staff includes two part-time General Surgeons, two General Practitioners, two additional full-time Internists, two full-time Pediatricians, two full-time and one part-time Obstetricians, one Dentist, one part-time Ophthalmologist, and three Residents. There is a nursing staff of 82 and a fully-staffed laboratory.
Medical volunteer teams from the U.S. and Canada travel to Milot at their own expense. The hospital has hosted as many as 170 volunteers in a year. These teams help the Haitian medical staff provide both primary and specialty medical and surgical care, while sharing educational opportunities.
