Nutrition Center
The Nutrition Center, located on the north campus across the street from the hospital, cares for 40 infants and toddlers each day. The nutrition program started shortly after the hospital was constructed in 1986 to provide nutritious meals to the malnourished children. On Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 1:30pm, each child receives 2 balanced meals plus nutritious snacks and vitamin supplements. Children are also toilet trained and taught proper hygiene. There are organized games, physical exercise using outdoor playground equipment, singing, and dancing. Children are weighed on a regular basis to track
progress and are observed by qualified staff so that if a child exhibits any kind of illness, preventive measures may be taken. One morning a month, the mothers or guardians come for a formal health education program on a specific topic presented by the director or a staff member from the Hospital’s Community Health Program.
