Raymond Delnatus, CFO Tours US Hospitals

For two weeks in July, HSC Chief Financial Officer, Raymond Delnatus, filled notebook after notebook with gleanings from his tour of four major US hospitals: Holy Name Medical Center, Teaneck, NJ; Baystate Medical Center and Mercy Hospital, Springfield, MA; and Carney Hospital, Dorchester, MA.

Not only did Mr. Delnatus view American hospital operations, he also saw the United States for the first time!

Delnatus received the gracious and focused attention of top hospital executives as he toured all aspects of hospital operations. “I had the opportunity to talk to almost all the key people in each place that I visited,” reports Delnatus. “The goal of the trip was to see how we can improve things at Sacré-Coeur and how we can build a better system.”

Holy Name Medical Center, President & CEO, Michael Maron took time out from his packed schedule to show Raymond around the major medical center. Maron’s wisdom and guidance made a huge and lasting impression on the HSC administrator.

“This trip has given me the opportunity to make a big difference in closing the gap between the Haitian Hospital and the American Hospital,” said Delnatus. “This trip was interesting and benefits me in performing my job. Now I have a better view and I can put my hands together to make improvements at Sacré Coeur.”

The relationships made during this trip continue to flourish. “This trip has opened many doors for our place, because at each hospital I visited, I found some opportunities for our facility, “he notes. “And, we have already received some equipment from Baystate Hospital!”

Thanks to the incredible, enthusiastic support of Baystate’s Procurement and Warehouse divisions, even more precious supplies and equipment are on their way to Milot.

Delnatus still praises his American hosts, Tim and Anise Traynor of Wilbraham, MA, who opened their home to Raymond, drove him to all his appointments and delighted in showing him New York City and New England sights.

“I am very grateful for all their kind and most generous hospitality,” he said. The Traynors also made sure Delnatus had ample supply of his newly discovered American fav treat: vanilla ice cream!

Since his summer visit, Delnatus has already implemented many of the procedural, facilities maintenance and management protocols he learned. CRUDEM hopes Delnatus will return to the US for more instructional visits and the way will open for other key HSC staff to follow in his international education footsteps.
